This beautiful black lacquer ware compact is decorated with Mother of Pearl inlay. Two flying cranes protect your treasures inside. Open the box to reveal a small mirror. 3.5" square by 1.5" deep.
Evidence of this ancient art form has been found on the Korean Peninsula dating back to 202 BCE–206 CE. A single piece can take as long as one year to produce, as the lacquer is painstakingly layered with individually cut pieces of shell, then allowed to dry, sanded by hand, and polished to a deep luster.
