This book is based on the true story of Karma, a Black-necked Crane that was orphaned and injured after migrating from Tibet to the Phobjikha Valley in Bhutan in fall 2015. The story tells of his rescue, and ongoing care by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature in Bhutan.
Author Chris Szabo is a retired special education teacher, with a passion for birds and nature. She has traveled to Bhutan multiple times, and is currently living in the US with her husband, Jigme Goenpo Dorji, whom she credits with her Bhutan knowledge.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will help build a new shelter for Karma, plus a rehabilitation facility for future injured cranes in Bhutan.
