The Summer of Peace, Love and Cranes!

Posted by

The inspiration for this blog comes from my very own family member, Lyla who is 10 years old and lives in Sutton, MA.  Lyla was introduced to cranes during a family visit to Wisconsin and the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin.  Lyla has always loved doing crafts and learned how to make origami cranes!

When Lyla's grandmother became sick with cancer, the story of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes that she was introduced to while at the International Crane Foundation motivated her and fueled her obsession with cranes.  Lyla made it her personal mission to help complete 1000 cranes so her grandmother would be granted a wish.  She takes great pride in her first "job" making strings of cranes to raise money for the International Crane Foundation, once declaring, "Cranes are my Life!"

The 3 string beaded cranes displayed are the work of Lyla, and are included for sale ($15) on our web store or by calling the Gift Shop at 608 356-9462 x 171.  Please note color preferences and we will choose a string for you!

Wishes for Peace, Love and Cranes go out to Lyla, a very special girl indeed!
